I represented a #1 pick NY Mets player who along with 3 other men was charged with raping a girl in Port St. Lucie where the Mets go for Spring Training. Two of the defendants were convicted. One flipped on my client and cut a deal, pleading guilty, and went on to testify against my client. Despite his testimony, I argued that the girl was a not a victim but a voluntary participant and my client was found not guilty.
Mr. Slovis represented Mr. Combs on three separate occasions. One felony assault which resulted in a strong slap on the wrist and one day of anger management for Mr. Combs. Case closed. In another, it was alleged that while at a club Mr. Combs hit someone in the ear who had inappropriately approached Mr. Combs’ girlfriend. The alleged victim claimed hearing damage. I got the case dismissed. The third, and most famous case, involved a shooting at a club where Mr. Combs and his then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez were in attendance. I was responsible for getting Mr. Combs released from jail after he was first arrested but I later resigned from the case when I felt Mr. Combs was being badly advised by another attorney he had brought in on the case, Johnnie Cochran.
Mr. Slovis successfully represented Tommy Lee on a parole violation, and was also called in to defend him in an incident involving allegedly a racial slur that was allegedly directed towards a security guard which resulted in a brawl. Mr. Lee received only a violation and no criminal record.
